About
CHS helps adults and families facing difficult challenges through housing and community supports that build stability and networks of opportunity.
This includes people facing homelessness in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, every night in our city up to 2,400 people go to bed homeless, hungry and concerned for their very survival. About half are homeless families with children, leading to the average age of a homeless person being about eight years old. Others are facing homelessness because they lack health care coverage and they have minimum wage jobs that don’t provide enough funds to make ends meet. CHS provides shelter, housing, free health care, rental assistance, eviction prevention supports, and individual support to help local Pittsburghers overcome these challenges.
CHS also assists adults living with mental and physical disabilities through housing, individualized supports, and by building opportunities to grow friendships in the community. The goal is to ensure a community where everyone is included and working to support each others wellness goals. At CHS, we value and respect the dignity and full potential of every person realizing that individual opportunities flourish when people are connected to caring and compassionate communities of supporters.
Community Human Services is a 501(c) 3 non-profit that provides help and hope to thousands of people living in the greater Pittsburgh area. Find out more about us at http://www.chscorp.org, or call Diane McMahon at 412.246.1608.
